Areas of Practice

Child Abuse, Neglect or Maltreatment

We represent parents and caregivers in child protective proceedings involving allegations of abuse or neglect under Article 10 of the Family Court Act. These cases often involve investigations by the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), emergency removals, and court-ordered services.

Our firm provides strategic representation at every stage, including initial appearances, fact finding hearings, dispositional hearings, and permanency proceedings. We work to challenge unsupported allegations, address safety concerns, and advocate for outcomes that protect both parental rights and the well-being of the child.

Child Custody & Visitation

We represent parents and caregivers in custody and visitation matters, including initial determinations, modifications of existing orders, and enforcement proceedings. These cases require a careful evaluation of the child’s best interest, as well as the practical realities facing each family.

We advocate for parenting arrangements that are both legally sound and workable, whether through negotiation or litigation. When necessary, we are prepared to litigate complex custody disputes, including those involving relocation, parental conflict, or concerns regarding a child’s safety and stability.

Family Offenses & Orders of Protection

We represent both petitioners and respondents in family offense proceedings involving allegations such as harassment, assault, menacing, and related conduct under the Family Court Act. These matters often proceed quickly and can result in temporary or final orders of protection with significant consequences.

Our approach is focused and strategic. We prepare thoroughly for hearings, assessing the credibility of allegations, and advocate effectively whether seeking protection or defending against claims. We aim to secure outcomes that are fair, legally sound, and appropriately tailored to the circumstances of each case.

Guardianship & Termination Parental Rights

We handle guardianship proceedings and termination of parental rights (TPR) matters, which often involve complex and sensitive issues affecting the long term care and custody of a child. These proceedings may arise in the context of foster care, kinship placements, or private petitions.

We provide careful, strategic representation while nacigating the legal standards and evidentiaryt requirements involved. Our focus is on achieving stable, legally secure outcomes while protecting our clients’ rights throughout the process.

Paternity & Child Support

We represent clients in all aspects of child support and paternity proceedings in Family Court. This includes establishing initial support orders, modifying existing orders based on changes in circumstances, and enforcing unpaid support.

We also assist in establishing or challenging paternity through acknowledgment or court proceedings, including DNA testing where appropriate. Our goal is to ensure that support obligations are accurate, fair, and consistent with New York law while protecting our clients’ financial and parental rights.

Voluntary Foster Care

We advise and represent parents in voluntary foster care placements, where a child is temporarily placed in foster care with the consent of a parent or guardian. These arrangements often involve agreements with an authorized agency and may include conditions for reunification.

We assist clients in understanding the terms of placement, addressing agency involvement, and navigating the steps necessary for the child’s return home. Our focus is on protecting parental rights while working toward safe and timely reunification.

Matrimonial Mediation

Matrimonial mediation is a private, cost-effective alternative to litigation, allowing parties to resolve issues such as custody, support, and division of assets with the help of a neutral mediator.
